The founder of the UK company Kitchen Craft, Thomas Plant, established the company in 1850, naming it after himself. Thomas Plant initially specialized in the production and wholesale of ironware and household goods. In 1996, the company name was changed to Kitchen Craft to give customers an immediate idea of the company's focus right from the name. Expanding its sales capabilities in the global market, Kitchen Craft became part of Lifetime Brands Inc., a leading global supplier of kitchen, tableware, and other home-use products.

The La Cafetière brand was developed during Thomas Plant's time – in 1967 – and encompasses everything related to enjoying coffee and tea with comfortable, heat-retentive, elegant, and practical vessels. From coffee pots and cups to crocks and tea strainers, La Cafetière offers a full range to prepare coffee or tea for every taste.
