Dunoon

Dunoon is a family-run business that began producing high-quality mugs in 1974 in Dunoon, Scotland. The concept was to create quality ceramic mugs, filling a market gap with well-crafted, beautifully designed, original mugs.

In 1982, a new factory was opened in Stone, Staffordshire, the center of the ceramics industry, under the leadership of Gordon, Alan, and Peter Smith. Dunoon developed a collaboration policy with many designers and artists to continuously update the range with new designs, creating unique mug shapes in both stoneware and fine bone china porcelain.

To create a lightweight and high-quality mug, Dunoon uses the traditional slip casting method in plaster molds.

Export markets have expanded to include continental Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia, and Asian markets such as Taiwan, Japan, and Korea. Currently, Dunoon supplies mugs to more than 60 countries worldwide.

With the growing popularity of specialty coffee and tea, sales volume and demand for higher quality and more unusual mug designs have increased, which is Dunoon’s strong suit.

The Smith family tradition in the ceramics industry, cultivated for over 100 years, now continues with Harriet and Andrew, Alan’s children, who are now involved in the family business.
